Who is a Node Operator?

Node Operators are entitled to create new Validators for Geode Planets. They’re professional staking providers who can ensure the safety of funds belong to the protocol users and ensure Validator operations are run correctly. Node Operators manage a secure and stable infrastructure for running validator clients for the benefit of their partners.
Any Node Operator can be directly accepted to the Portal. Governance, which currently consists of Geode Developers is entitled to propose a new Node Operator, however it is up to the Senate to accept or deny this proposal.
Geode Governance heavily values the scale of technical adequacy and the quality of a Node Operator's infrastructure to ensure that it will support Geodes Planets with healthy Validators.

Being a Node Operator

1. Get in touch with the Geode Developers with the following information:

1. What will be your Pool's name?

The name of the Entity with detailed information should be provided in this step.

2. What will be the address of your Maintainer?

Maintainer address will be maintaining your communication with Portal. The responsibilities of the Owner are,
  • Create new Validators and Stake funds from multiple Staking Pools.
  • Collect Operation fees.
  • Manage the staking Pool's Withdrawal Pools by paying Debt
3. You can simply send an email to [email protected] after all of these steps have been taken.
As an example,
Our name is Operators.fi, we have an infrastructure that can support up to 1000 Validators and it can be scaled up to 1 Million within the next year. We are planning to use AWS to run Avax validators.

What will be the address of your pBank on the p-chain?

pBank is the only address on the P subchain that interacts with tokens that is claimed by the operator as a surplus.
This logic makes the operator-planet interactions more reliable and transparent when used by the oracle to detect the token flow between different subchains.

Set A pBank for every Planet you wish to operate with:

Portal.setPBank(
uint256 operator_id,
uint256 planet_id
bytes pBank // for example P-avaxds1bu431yv21fdg...
);
